Dream it.

It all begins with an idea, a concept, a vision, way to bring a sense of art, beauty, play, creativity and imagination into our lives. This is a blank slate, a canvas, raw and ready to come to life.

Build it.

Waiting for your creative touch to help create an immersive floating art gallery experience on 3 transport Canada certified boats that will float in Toronto’s harbour offering tours to the Island!

 FAQS

Waterproof? Absolutely. Our vessels are transport Canada approved passenger carry vessels. They are outdoors 100% of the time, rain or shine so the entire design and layout needs to be 100% waterproof and survive the elements, sun, rain, wind, humidity.

Has this been done before, do you have any examples? This is our first time launching this project, we do not have any examples! You can take a look online at water taxis in Toronto and around the world to see some of the other concepts people have used. We are looking to create an immersive art experience!

Life jackets? Seating? Lights? Sound? Yes! All of this is possible. We need to store 13 life jackets and provide seating for 12 persons on board, as the vessels will be used for passenger transport. We hope that the seating and storage of the jackets can be incorporated into your design, as we want the boats to be themselves immersive works of art. The Life jackets need to be readily accessible, and the seating comfortable for users of all ages and sizes.

Where are we doing the work? The boats will be at Bluffers Park Marina, 7 Brimley Rd S, Scarborough, ON M1M 3W3. The marina is accessible by public transit and car.

Real paint? Yes we can actually create a live mural, or we can work with digital art and put a print/wrap on the vessel.

Would a painting on the walls and floor be enough? - YES absolutely it’s a great place to start, but we are looking for a wholistic immersive experience!

Do you require the artist to build seating and storage? Not exactly, but possibly. We want to create an immersive experience, thus the seating and storage could be a part of the design. We could source the storage for life jackets (possible plastic boxes, possibly hanging from the roof rafters) and the seating (possible the muskoka chairs, possibly other benches easily acquired from local stores) or we can work with the artists and the relevant seating that matches their design!

Is the immersive aspect meant to be something that moves like virtual or augmented reality? Immersive can be both physical, audible, light (we might shy away from anything virtual as it would require more technological components, and with them vessels being on the water that could be challenging!) . It can be that the seats themselves are artwork, that the floor looks like it's the waters surface, this is up to you to create your concept and share it with us! We are

So, we're welcome to fasten things to the boats? You bet. These vessels are going to be used for passenger transport - if it’s not fastened to the vessel, it’s not gonna be there for very long!

What’s your Idea?

We can’t wait to get this project started.

Pitch us your concept and design ideas, we’d love to see the creativity of the community come to life! If you want to create a mock up, that’d be wicked! (Do people still say wicked?) Link us your website, some of your past works or whatever you think we need to know!
